 Role Overview

We are expanding our global consultancy network and seeking experienced Data Protection Officers / Privacy Consultants to support clients across multiple jurisdictions. You will act as a named or advisory External DPO, delivering pragmatic and commercially sound data protection solutions aligned with international regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as Outsourced / External Data Protection Officer for client organisations.
  • Advise on compliance with:
    • EU GDPR, UK GDPR & UK Data Protection Act 2018
    • Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) 2023 & General Application & Implementation Directive (GAID) 2025
    • US privacy frameworks (e.g. CCPA/CPRA, HIPAA where applicable)
    • Canadian privacy laws including PIPEDA
  • Support clients with Data Protection & GDPR compliance, policies, audits, CAR and DPIAs.
  • Implement and maintain governance, risk and compliance (GRC) frameworks.
  • Provide AI Governance and emerging regulatory readiness advisory.
  • Deliver cybersecurity and data breach response guidance.
  • Manage data subject rights requests and regulatory communications.
  • Support international data transfer compliance mechanisms.
  • Deliver training sessions, executive briefings, and awareness programmes including paid training/conferences.
  • Contribute to CreativeEdge’s tiered Outsourced DPO packages and tailored consultancy engagements.
  • Monitor and advise on compliance with global data protection obligations.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain data protection policies, procedures, and governance frameworks.
  • Conduct and oversee Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and risk assessments.
  • Advise on lawful bases for processing, consent mechanisms, and international data transfers.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for regulators, supervisory authorities, and data subjects.
  • Manage and respond to data subject rights requests (DSARs) across jurisdictions.
  • Oversee and coordinate personal data breach management, including regulatory notifications.
  • Provide training and awareness programmes for staff and senior management.
  • Review and negotiate data protection clauses in contracts, including data processing and data sharing agreements.
  • Work closely with IT, compliance, HR, product, and legal teams to embed privacy by design and by default.
  • Keep abreast of regulatory developments and emerging global privacy trends.
  • Support clients with Compliance Audit Returns (CAR) in conjunction with our licensed DPCO.
  • Design privacy frameworks for client organisations.
  • Design training curriculum for both internal and external stakeholders.

Essential Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Data Protection Officer, Privacy Counsel, GRC Specialist or Senior Privacy Professional.
  • Strong understanding of multinational data protection regimes.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide independent and practical consultancy advice.
  • Experience supporting SMEs, fintechs, AI-driven organisations, or regulated sectors.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and client-facing skills.
  • Demonstrated experience handling cross-border data transfers and multinational compliance.
  • Ability to work independently and advise senior stakeholders with confidence.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, organisational, and risk management skills.
  • IT Skills: Privacy Tools & Software management, Cloud & IT Infrastructure Knowledge and PETs.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Law Degree, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Compliance, IT Governance, or Information Security background.
  • Certifications such as: CIPP/E, CIPP/US, CIPC/C, CIPM, CIPT, C-DPO, ISO 27001/27701 or equivalent GRC experience
  • Experience delivering outsourced or fractional DPO services.
  • Training delivery or board-level advisory experience.
  • Experience working with regulators or acting as a named DPO.
  • Experience in sectors such as technology, fintech, healthcare, financial services, or professional services.
